Terms of Service for Catholic Christian Community
Last Updated: August 5, 2026
Catholic Community is operated by Mary Our Help (MOH). These Terms of Service explain what you may expect from us, and what we ask of you, when you use the platform. By creating an account or using Catholic Community you agree to them.
We have written them in plain language on purpose. A document that members cannot read protects nobody. Where a term matters, we have said why.
1. Your Account
- Age: Catholic Community is not intended for anyone under 13 years of age. If you are under 13, please do not create an account.
- Accurate details: Please register with a name you are known by, and an email address you can actually open. Your email address is how you recover your account if you forget your password, and we cannot restore access to an address you cannot reach.
- One person, one account: An account belongs to a person, not to a role or a group. Do not share your password with anyone, and do not sign in to somebody else's account, even with their permission.
- Impersonation: Do not present yourself as a priest, a religious, a member of the hierarchy, or any other person or office, unless that is genuinely who you are. This matters more here than on most platforms, because members extend trust to those titles.
- Keeping your account safe: You are responsible for what is done through your account. If you believe someone else has used it, please contact us at once.
2. What You May and May Not Post
Catholic Community exists for prayer, encouragement and the life of the Church. You are welcome to post prayers, testimonies, reflections, questions, announcements, images, recordings and documents that serve that purpose.
The following are not permitted anywhere on the platform, including in private messages, groups and meetings:
- Asking members for money. Neither we nor any member will ever ask you for money, for your password, or for your bank details. Requests for money from members are the single most common form of abuse on platforms like this one, and we treat them seriously.
- Deception: false claims about who you are, false appeals for help, or invented circumstances intended to obtain money, sympathy or personal information.
- Content that harms: harassment, threats, hatred or contempt toward any person or group, sexual content, graphic violence, or anything that endangers a child.
- Content that is not yours to share: see the next section.
- Unlawful content under the law that applies to you.
- Disruption: automated posting, mass unsolicited messaging, attempts to interfere with the platform, or attempts to obtain other members' accounts or data.
If you are unsure whether something belongs here, the ordinary test serves well: would you say it aloud in your parish hall, in front of the people who would be reading it?
3. Your Content, and Who Owns It
- You keep what is yours. Anything you post remains yours. We do not claim ownership of your words, your images, your recordings or your prayers.
- What you allow us to do with it: by posting, you give us permission to store your content and to show it to the members you have chosen to show it to, on the platform and in the apps. That permission exists only so that the platform can work. It ends when you delete the content or your account, except where it has already been received by another member, or where the law requires us to keep a record.
- What we do not do: we do not sell your content, we do not license it to anyone else, and we do not use it in advertising. We do not show advertising at all.
- You are responsible for what you post. When you post something, you are confirming that it is yours to share, or that you have permission to share it.
4. Copyright and Other People's Work
Much of what is shared in a Catholic community was written or recorded by somebody else: a hymn, a homily, a translation of Scripture, a book, an image of a work of art, a video from a retreat. Some of that material is freely usable and some of it is not.
- Post only what you may. Do not upload or share material that belongs to somebody else unless you have their permission, or the material is genuinely free to share.
- Give credit. Where you share something you did not create and are permitted to share, please say whose work it is. It costs a line and it is a matter of honesty.
- If you are the rights holder and believe something on Catholic Community infringes your rights, please write to us at support@maryourhelp.org. Tell us what the material is, where on the platform you found it, who you are, and what right you hold. We will look into it and remove the material where the claim is well founded.
- If your content was removed and you believe that was a mistake, write to the same address and tell us why. We would rather correct an error than defend one.
- Repeated infringement may lead to an account being suspended or closed.
5. Meetings, Calls and Recordings
- One-to-one voice calls are never recorded by the platform.
- A meeting can only be recorded if the person who created it declared, at the moment of creation, that it may be recorded. Such meetings are labelled before you join, and a red REC indicator is shown to everyone present whenever recording is actually taking place. A meeting without that label can never be recorded.
- Do not record by other means. Recording a meeting using separate software or another device, without the knowledge of those present, is not permitted.
- What is said in a meeting is said to the people in it. Sharing a recording, or another member's words, outside the group it was meant for is a breach of these terms and, more importantly, of the trust that makes such meetings possible.
- Attendance registers, where a host keeps one, are visible to that group's administrators only, and everyone whose attendance is being taken is told so in the meeting itself.
6. Groups and Those Who Lead Them
- Group administrators may approve or refuse members, remove members, set an access code, pin a message, and lead meetings. Those powers exist to serve the group.
- A group belongs to its members, not to its administrator personally. An administrator who uses a group to solicit money, to promote something unrelated, or to isolate a member may have those powers removed.
- Listing a group publicly is reviewed by us before it appears in the group directory. We may decline to list a group, which does not prevent the group from operating privately.
7. Moderation and What We May Do
Catholic Community is moderated. We read the reports that members send us, and posts by new members are reviewed before they appear publicly. This is a deliberate choice: an unmoderated Catholic space is quickly taken over by those who prey on trust.
Where these terms are broken, we may:
- remove or hide the content in question;
- limit an account's ability to post or to message people it does not know;
- suspend an account while we look into a matter;
- close an account, where the breach is serious or repeated.
We will act proportionately, and where circumstances allow we will explain what has happened and give an opportunity to respond. Serious matters, in particular anything endangering a child, will be acted upon at once and may be reported to the appropriate authorities.
If you believe a decision about your account was wrong, write to us at support@maryourhelp.org.
8. Cost
Catholic Community is free to use. There is no subscription, no paid tier, and no payment system on the platform at all. We will never ask you for payment or for bank details, and neither will any member. If anyone does, please report it.
9. Availability, and What We Do Not Promise
We work to keep Catholic Community running and to keep your content safe, but we cannot promise that the platform will always be available, that it will be free of faults, or that content will never be lost. The service is provided as it is.
Catholic Community is a place for prayer and mutual support. It is not a substitute for the sacraments, for pastoral care from your own parish, for medical or psychological treatment, or for emergency services. If you are in danger or in crisis, please contact the emergency services where you are, and reach out to someone near you.
Members write their own posts, comments and messages. Those words are theirs and not ours, and we do not endorse them by hosting them.
10. Ending Your Membership
You may delete your account at any time from your profile page. Deleting removes your personal information, your posts, your comments and your other content, as described in the Privacy Policy. Messages you have already sent to another member may remain in that person's copy of the conversation, as with any messaging service.
If you simply need a rest, consider muting your groups instead. Deletion cannot be undone.
11. Changes to These Terms
We may update these terms as the platform changes or as the law requires. Where a change matters, we will say so on the platform. The date at the top always tells you when they last changed. If you continue to use Catholic Community after a change, you accept the updated terms.
12. Law and Disputes
Mary Our Help operates Catholic Community from Nigeria, and its members are in many countries. These terms are governed by the law of the place from which the service is operated, and any dispute that cannot be settled between us will be dealt with there.
Nothing in these terms removes any right you hold under the law that applies to you as a consumer where you live.
Before any dispute, please write to us. Almost everything can be settled by a conversation, and we would much rather have one.
13. Contact Us
For any question about these terms, about your account, or about something you have seen on the platform, write to us at support@maryourhelp.org. Catholic Community is operated by Mary Our Help (MOH).
Our Privacy Policy explains what we collect and what you control, and forms part of these terms.
