Privacy Policy for Catholic Christian Community
Last Updated: July 24, 2026
Catholic Community is operated by Mary Our Help (MOH). Welcome to the Catholic Christian Community ("we," "us," or "our"). We are committed to protecting your privacy and ensuring the security of your personal information. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, share, and protect your data when you use our platform, including features such as posting, sending prayer requests, following users, messaging, voice calls, prayer meetings, and receiving notifications.
1. Information We Collect
We collect the following types of information to provide and improve our services:
- Personal Information: When you register, you provide details such as your full name, username, email address, phone number (optional), country, diocese, parish, gender (optional), vocation (optional), and a profile picture (optional). You may also provide a bio and choose whether your profile is public or private.
- Content You Share: We collect posts, comments, likes, messages, voice notes, and prayer requests you send, including any attached files (e.g., images, videos, PDFs, or other supported formats up to 100MB). These may be publicly visible or restricted to followers based on your privacy settings.
- Usage Data: We collect information about your interactions with the platform, such as pages visited, posts liked, comments made, and users followed. This helps us personalize your experience and provide relevant notifications.
- Technical Information: We may collect device information (e.g., browser type, IP address, and operating system) and usage patterns to improve platform performance and security.
2. How We Use Your Information
Your information is used to:
- Provide Services: Enable you to post, send and receive prayer requests, message and call other members, join prayer meetings, follow other users, and receive notifications about likes, comments, and follows.
- Personalize Your Experience: Display a personalized feed from users you follow, suggest users based on shared diocese or country, and highlight top contributors.
- Ensure Security: Verify user identities, prevent unauthorized access, and maintain the integrity of the platform.
- Communicate: Send you notifications about new comments, likes, prayer requests, messages, calls, prayer meetings, or follows, as well as updates about the platform.
- Improve the Platform: Analyze usage patterns to enhance features, such as search, filtering by diocese or vocation, and pagination for community members.
3. How We Share Your Information
We do not sell your personal information. We may share your information as follows:
- Public Content: If your profile is public, your username, profile picture, bio, and posts may be visible to all users. Private profiles are visible only to approved followers.
- Prayer Requests: Prayer requests you send are shared with the recipient and may generate a notification for them.
- Community Features: Your username and profile picture may appear in notifications, comments, or likes visible to other users, depending on your privacy settings.
- Legal Requirements: We may disclose your information if required by law or to protect the rights, safety, or property of our users or the platform.
4. Voice Calls, Prayer Meetings, and Recordings
Voice features are built to be private by default:
- Voice Calls: One-to-one voice calls are transmitted live between participants and are never recorded or stored by the platform.
- Prayer Meetings: Live audio in prayer meetings is forwarded to participants in real time and is not stored. A meeting can be recorded only if its host declared it recordable when the meeting was created. Such meetings are clearly labeled "May be recorded" before you join — on the meeting page, on its schedule page, and in shared invitations — and a visible red REC indicator is shown to everyone in the meeting, including late joiners, whenever recording is actually in progress. A meeting without this label can never be recorded.
- Where Recordings Go: A recorded meeting is delivered as a voice message into that group's chat, where it is visible to the group's members and subject to the group's moderation. It is not shared anywhere else by the platform.
- Prayer Intentions: Intentions you send to a meeting's leader are seen by the meeting's hosts only, and are automatically deleted when the meeting ends. They are not kept as records.
- Attendance: For meetings where the host asks for a register, the names of signed-in members who attend are recorded, together with when they arrived and how long they were present. The register is visible to that group's administrators. Anyone whose attendance is being taken is told so in the meeting itself. Guests who join without an account are never recorded.
5. Your Choices and Controls
You have control over your information:
- Profile Privacy: You can set your profile to public or private (visible only to followers) via the dashboard settings.
- Content Management: You can edit or delete your prayers, comments, and bio at any time through the platform's interface.
- Follow Settings: You can choose whom to follow or unfollow, and only followed users can receive your prayer requests.
- Calls: You can turn off incoming voice calls entirely in your settings.
- Notifications: You can view and mark notifications as read, and they are automatically marked as read when you visit the notifications page.
- Account Deletion: You can delete your account at any time from your profile page. This permanently removes your personal information and content as described in Data Retention below.
6. Data Security
We take reasonable measures to protect your information, including:
- Storing passwords securely using password hashing.
- Securing file uploads with unique file names and restricted permissions.
- Limiting file types and sizes (e.g., 100MB for posts, 2MB for profile pictures) to prevent abuse.
- Using session-based authentication to ensure only logged-in users access protected features.
7. Data Retention
We retain your personal information and content as long as your account is active or as needed to provide services. If you delete your account, we will remove your personal information, posts, comments, and other data, except where required by law to retain certain records.
8. Children's Privacy
The Catholic Community is not intended for users under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we learn that we have collected such information, we will promptly delete it.
9. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy to reflect changes in our practices or legal requirements. We will notify users of significant changes via email or a prominent notice on the platform. Your continued use of the platform after such changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
